How Petelo handles your data.

Petelo (“we”, “our”, or “us”) provides an AI companion experience for pet lovers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using the Petelo app.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic account details needed to create and maintain your Petelo account, such as an account identifier, email address when provided by the sign-in service, and profile metadata made available to us.

Pet profile information

We collect the content you provide when creating your pet companion, including pet name, breed or type, chosen personality tags, generated intro text, and related settings.

Photos and media

We collect pet photos that you upload or capture in the app when you choose to provide them. We may also process images you send in chat when that feature is available in your version of Petelo.

Chat content

We collect messages you send to your pet companion and the responses generated in chat so that the conversation can function and so your companion experience can remain coherent over time.

Location and weather context

If you allow location access, Petelo may use your approximate location to retrieve weather context and support weather-aware reminders or proactive companion messages. Location access is optional.

Purchase information

If you subscribe to premium features, we receive transaction-related information from Apple to validate your subscription status. We do not receive your full payment card details.

2. How we use information

• Provide sign-in and account access
• Create and maintain pet profiles
• Generate pet persona content and chat responses
• Support notifications and weather-aware care reminders
• Verify premium entitlements
• Maintain security, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability

3. Service providers and integrations

We may use third-party service providers to operate Petelo, including infrastructure, authentication, database, storage, and AI generation tools. Based on the current app configuration, these may include:

• Supabase for backend infrastructure, authentication, and storage
• Apple and Google for sign-in
• Google Gemini-related services for AI features where applicable
• Weather data providers for optional weather-aware features
• Apple for in-app subscription processing

4. Notifications

If you enable notifications, Petelo may send local or remote notifications related to your pet companion experience. You can manage notification permissions in your device settings.

5. Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When you request account deletion, we will delete or de-identify your data as required by applicable law, except where retention is required for legal, security, or financial compliance purposes.

6. Your choices

• You can stop using Petelo at any time.
• You can manage permissions such as photos, camera, location, and notifications in your device settings.
• You can manage subscriptions through your Apple account settings.
• You can request account deletion from within the app where available or by contacting support.

7. Children’s privacy

Petelo is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law to consent to personal data processing on their own. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us.

8. International use

Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we take steps intended to protect personal information when transferred across borders.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date shown above and may provide additional notice inside the app when appropriate.
